Yay Alma Mater!

Maybe I actually now have a reason to give some money to them.

Go Tigers!

Hold that thought, Grooven -- we're looking into organizing something.

Tremendous loss, to be sure. It is encouraging to hear that there are still truly good people out there when it seems that we are surrounded by the self-serving.

A story that tugs on the heart-strings of all, not just hockey fans. Coach McKenzie, as well and the kids and their families, have taught an important lesson. It's one's character/passion that leaves the legacy, and the wise ones are those who carry it on.

Grooven - and others - I am the treasurer of the Woodrow Wilson Hockey team featured in the Post. As of now, the team is struggling with only $300 in the till - we are trying to raise funds for ice time and to join a tournament in the spring. Anyone interested in helping the team with a tax deductible donation can contact me. Tim - taluise@hapc.com

Tim -- I'll definitely be in touch with you, but just in case others might be interested in just knowing numbers, what types of funds are you looking for? How much for ice time and tourney entry fees and... are all the players appropriately equipped?

-Grooven *who is lamenting the lack of a hockey team when I was there (not that I can skate well at all), even though a few of us tried, and a couple even went to Boston or Canada to play*

I do not want to take away the thunder that Pucksandbooks is planning for a fundraiser(for which we are most thankful), but to give you an idea of the Wilson hockey teams needs: Short term - to participate in a tournament is probably about $2500 - amount needed for entrance fees, practice ice time and transportation; Long term, we are budgeting about $20 -$25k a year for ice time, development clinics, equipment for lower income players, league fees, etc. Ice time of course is by far the most expensive line item.
