So is the penalty Delay of Game? If anything the ref’s should have given them both 10 minute Unsportsmanlike misconducts.

That clip had me giggling this morning.
What’s the song? I’ve heard it before and it fit perfectly. I think all fights should have soundtracks. Like a good movie montage!

  4. Gus is right: neither player got a Fighting Major but each got 10-minute Unsportsmanlike Conducts.

The opening song is, of course, “The Final Countdown” by Europe. For the rest of the clip the players dance to the song “Scatman” by the late Scatman John.

    Such a classic.

My favorite of all time, and I don’t have time to dig it up, is the one where one of the Senators turns and throws the gloves off, and then hits a rut in the ice and falls flat on his butt. The guy he had challenged laughs at him and continues skating to his bench while he gathers up his equipment and sulks all the way to the penalty box.

This has long been one of my all time favorites. There’s no much to love aboutit. The way Downey actually falls down twice, once just before and once just after throwing off his gloves, despite the complete lack of contact with Norton. The way Norton throws, well, not a punch — it looks more like an attempt to slap Downey. The way the linesmen finally just give up waiting for an actual fight to start and move in to break things up looking kind of disgusted by the whole afair. (You just know they were rolling their eyes, even though you can’t see it.) The way Downey skates to the box looking tough and touching his hands to his face the way boxers do, even though there was no contact at all either to his face or his fists. Just a classic, all the way around.

Stupid typos. That should “so much to love about it.” And “affair.”

What an embarrassment. I fear everytime I try to introduce someone to the sport that I’ll have to explain that kind of crap.

I like a good, angry, spontaneous, I-want-to-pound-you-silly for what you just did to me (or teammate X) kind of fight, but that stuff is ridiculous.
