Rick Nash Gets His Freak On

We don't know if this is a full-on challenge to Alex's 'Goal' (also against Phoenix) or if in fact it might be a clearly superior act of virtuosity. We do know it's a showcase of sick skill and that you'll enjoy watching it.

If you are having problems with the video above, you can view this version from the NHL.

Almost to the day, too.

I was at the game when OV scored The Goal, and while it a ridiculous feat, it was also the last goal of a 6-1 blowout.

There have been better, more meaningful goals off the stick of #8, before and since.

No denying the sweet stickwork. It's hard for me to tell what exactly happens at the end though. Looks like the goalie gets a bit of his stick on it, yes? That would be why the puck trickles more slowly across the crease for Nash to collect and put into the now vacant net?

Comparing those to goals is like comparing Heidi Klum to Catherine Zeta Jones.

Both are amazing in their own special way.

VT, that's concise and precise. Nicely summarized!

Grooven, yes, the goalie gets a piece of the puck. Couldn't tell if it was stick or pad, but he definitely made contact.

Nash's duel with Tellqvist at the net was only the last phase. The real story of this is how he made Ballard and Morris look like they were standing in quicksand. He pretty much WALKED around them.

Rick done made hisself three bitches in one play.

Jeff Freisen is with Lake Erie (AHL) now. Maybe will see him at the Crunch game Saturday night. Wish I could see the Bears in Syracuse but they never some up. AHL scheduling just plain blows.
