Dan Steinberg followed Ovie, Mike Green, Nick Backstrom and Matt Bradley as they zoomed around D.C. on Segways; check out the fun story here.

That’s hilarious!
Hahaha.. jeez. This story just brightens my day. Wish I could have seen that one in person! Seems like the guys are all cutting loose recently, which is great. Check out my site for a funny run-in I had with Milan Jurcina yesterday!
Wow… These guys are the best… I’m still laughing… Is there any other sport with athletes this great???
Is there a source for all these pics? That second one just about made me spew coffee all over my desk. I think I’d be terrified if I saw that coming at me.
Off-topic, but that dude seriously needs to get a haircut.
Good question Smitty — these photos are courtesy of the Washington Capitals. Apologies for not adding the alt tags like we usually do — it was late!
The credit tags were in the “alt” and “title” tags of the image. I’ve added text below the images as well.
All three images were rather large and I reduced them for the blog as well as combining the top two images into one.
Man, Ovie is great. Can you imagine Crosby doing anything like that, and being funny while doing it? No, neither can I.
“Girls, where are you? I can’t find you.” BWAH-HA-HA-HA!!!
So true, victor- Crosby would have to have a personality before he’d be able to do something like that.
Ovie (and the others) just kill me. That poor tour guide.
I just love these guys. I think that Ovechkin manages to have fun in everything that he does.
I think you are right that Crosby would not have this much fun. He just seems like he lets the weight of all the pressure on him make him so guarded and boring. I think he needs to hang out with Ovechkin and Company a little bit and just relax.
To be fair, I think Crosby’s youth is what would hold him back. I remember reading an article in THN a while back where Ovie and Crosby posed for the cover photo together. When the shoot had finished, it was Crosby who took off his jersey and offered to trade w/ Ovie (”shyly,” if memory serves). Combine that with the fact he’s been in the spotlight since he first put on skates and has been coached in what to say and when to say it better then Nuke LaLoosh has been–it’s no wonder everything that comes out of his mouth is some variation of, “I’m just here to help the team.”
That’s a very amusing article. Thanks for sharing it, Mike!
