A Haven for the Hockey Malnourished

The coldest days best warm my hockey heart

Hot Hockey Moms

I'm not one for cheesecake, especially of the female persuasion, so I can't decide if this contest to decide Manitoba's Hottest Hockey Mom is cool or creepy. Either way, I'm impressed that this woman had four kids and looks this good.LeFawn- photo courtesy of The Winnipeg Sun

LeFawn, a 30-year-old mother of four from Niverville, beat out seven other "hot mamas" in the Winnipeg Sun's Hockey Mom Week contest, which featured a different mom over eight days last month...On top of the title, LeFawn earned $500 for her son's hockey team and tickets for 13 Niverville Clippers players to watch a Manitoba Moose game from the Winnipeg Sun suite...When the photo shoot took place -- now nearly two months ago -- LeFawn said her son was even more excited than she was. After winning the contest, that didn't change. "He told all his friends about it and when I found out I won, they were all screaming and happy," she said. "But they just wanted to go to the game."

Want to bet those kids would have had a different reaction if they were a few years older? If they were 15 instead of 8, I don't think all of their enthusiasm would have been for the game. Now I'm creeped out again.

Where are the contests for the hot hockey dads?!?

BallHype: hype it up!

I suppose it is 2 steps forward, one step back. Objectification isn't limited just to childless women under the age of 25, so that's kind of good, no?

Thirty-year-old with 4 kids? First name LeFawn?

Can you say "cracker"?

So you don't think I should name my future child "LeFawn" if it's a girl?

Now you know why all the hockey dads in Winnipeg are volunteering to take their kids to those early morning practices.

I shouldn't jump into the fray, but I humbly suggest, after watching the video photo shoot for this "competition,"

http://www.winnipegsun.com/Video/2007/10/26/4608242.html

that there wasn't much competition.

And yeah, bring back the Jets!

Wait, does she actually play hockey? Or is she just being honored for producing a hockey player from her fertile womb?

I think that this is such an inappropriate way for a mother to fundraise for her son's team. I have a daughter in this particular hockey program and am quite disgusted by the whole thing. What are we teaching our youth? What are we teaching our sons and daughters? I realize "sex sells" but come on, these are young kids. The two shouldn't be combined!

It wasn't a contest for kids. It was a simple contest that was a fund raiser.

Blah, blah, blah, morality, blah, blah, whataboutthekids, blah blah, unfair, blah, blah, sexism.

It is what it is, and sexism isn't it. Get over yourselves, people.

"A Hottie Looks at 30" -- who cares if her name is odd, she's one fit (and confident) hockey mom!
