Capsaholic,
What has McPhee done in the decade since the Finals? The Jagr/Lang roster with Cassidy?? We had Randy Carlisle remember? When it comes to coaches, McPhee has this mentoring, nurchering type on the brain. Well, what about the post season and WINNING type? As long as McPhee keeps convincing Leonsis his "next year" pitch, we will always have high draft. As for the players, what do you think they will say, "Yeah we stink, trade us for better."? By the way, we are on a pace to finish with around 55 pts, geez. So really, what has GM done with Ted's 5-year plan in his ten years? I'll probably drink myself through tonights game...again.

Hey, there is an up-side. I just read the latest Dump-N-Chase. GMGM said not to panic because we are still on schedule, this is only year three of the five year rebuild.
Guess he didn't get Ted's Memo saying that the rebuild was over.

I don't see the big problem with McPhee the rest of you do. Right now, new blood behind the bench should be sufficient.
Ovie isn't going through anything Mario didn't. He'll be fine.

I'm sure you guys have seen this from TSN.
It just talks about our struggles. Nothing new. Just how frustrated we all are. Fans to Uncle Ted to the great GMGM to the players and coaches.

Guys and Gals,
I've been saying this since the 'Canes whitewashing. Yeah, Quinn would be great but McPhee has to go with the bathwater. GM has had a decade for his experiments and on-the-job training but Leonsis apparently does not see that. If we don't go after John Muckler or some other marquee GM as well, McPhee will always be pitching the draft picks, next year, etc, etc...at the expense of us fans. A new HC will be just a band-aid if he does not hold the GM title as well. It worked for Glen Sather in Edmonton, splitting coaching duties with Mucks no less!! At our pace, we will end up with 52-ish points. Just a coaching change? No way.

I think I'm just going to put in park for now and wait until a coaching, or GM change, or preferably both, is made.
The only improvement this year has been the new unis, and now even they are tarnished by a growing body of work that is typical mediocre (now bordering on the ridiculously pathetic) Caps hockey.
PS. George, Glen is a Canadian, so you don't have to wait until after American Thanksgiving to fire him, so as to not ruin his holiday. (But I know you will wait until afer Dec. 1, when you've got that nice long break to contemplate a 6-20-1 record and how it will all truly be lost by then.)
Seriously, Waddell took over and his club is back to .500, going 10-4. And the Stars are improving as well after their changes. If we went on a streak like Atlanta's, we'd be 16-17-1 and back into the pack.

Watching AO reach for the puck as the last second ticked away and then lay on the ice as everyone filed off I felt like that was a metaphor for so much more. Why is it always the same people on the ice making plays and the rest simply show up? I will never stop being a fan, but right now I feel a little hopeless.

Its hard to watch this team. Its hard to get excited when they score because you know they will blow it. It sucks to be a Caps fan.
I've always been a Hanlon fan. Thought he had an extremely difficult job in leading this team out on the ice the last 2 seasons while still teaching the players and making them better pros. I think he did that as good as anyone could have.
I don't know what the problem is this season, no seems to. The players aren't blaming the coaches.
Everyone is lost, its a mess. As a fan that picture is painful to look at.
