I too think it’s time for a change, but I really found the chants for Hanlon’s firing distasteful. Glen’s a good guy who’s given everything to this franchise. I just think he’s in over his head right now. If you want to scream at anyone it should be McPhee or Ted for not having the guts or intellect to make a move while this season was still salvageable. They’re the ones leaving Glen to twist in the wind and he deserves better.

Changing the coach may or may not be the solution. But before the coach is changed, there had better be someone lined up to fill in. Do we really want our GM to do it as we’ve seen other teams do? Do you think Quinn or Hartley are so eager and ready to come here that it would be so easy?
Is firing the coach just change for the sake of change, to show they’re “doing something”?
It very well may be the right move, but I don’t leap off the same cliff as everyone else so eagerly without considering what comes with it.

But all that being said, it’s not the coach on the ice missing passes; passing when he should be shooting; taking stupid penalties (note how very few bench minors we’ve had this year); not covering his man.
There are a whole slew of players on the ice who should be getting blame first.

“oh, but the motivation…” Blah blah… What a crock. These guys are pros. If they can’t be motivated on their own, then the millions given them should do it. (One person I know calls it the Jagr syndrome, but I guess Jagr stating he gave up playing in DC was the coach’s fault too.) Motivation is what a coach gives during the timeout with 30sec left, not what a coach should give for the players to even show up.
That’s called work ethic.
The coach draws up the plays. The players implement. If they can’t do it because the play is too complex etc, then sure, that’s the coaching. If they can’t do it because the players cannot complete two passes in a row cleanly…

It’s great to see fans passionate. Too bad most of them don’t make that much noise encouraging the team when they do well as opposed to derideing when they don’t. Or do the fans need a better coach to motivate them?

Plus note from the game, Semin. Semin and Fleischmann seemed to work well as too Semin with Backstrom. The line of Nylander, Kozlov and Fleischmann needs to NOT happen again because those are three playmakers aka passers, not shooters. Literally never shoot.
