Does anybody know the circumstances for Chicago wearing white uniform systems at home against Columbus tonight? I hadn’t seen another club do that this season. To these eyes it’s a refreshing and welcome return to what seems normal.

I’ve seen at least two other games with the home team in white this year, but can’t remember the teams or the date.
I’m ready to switch back so we see all the colors of the league, rather than heading to the Phone Booth and seeing the same red and white.
Also, before this year I never saw both the home and away feeds on NHL Centre Ice. It’s happened often this year, including tonight with the ‘Yotes/Ducks game.
Didn’t the Caps wear the white unis when they played the Pens?
According to the Tribune’s print edition, the BJ’s asked the Hawks if they could wear their blue unis, and the Hawks agreed.
Bad move for the BJ’s, since the Hawks have been awesome on the road (white unis), and struggling at home. Maybe wearing white made the Hawks think they were on the road! Its been so bad at home, that Savard has considered putting players in a hotel on home game days, to simulate being on the road.
Living in Chicago, and being a Hawks season tix holder, its nice to have one of my teams playing well. I think the Hawks have lapped the Caps in terms of rebuilding. Kane and Towes are stunning to watch, the Hawks have 2 solid scoring lines, and will be better when/if Havlat can stay healthy. Mix in 2 franchise defensemen who are under 25, plus one who is in Rockford, and this team is set for the long haul.
Hawks should make the playoffs this year, and should be a serious contender in about 2 years. A Caps/Hawks SC Final would probably kill me, but my allegiance will always be in DC first!
Also, regarding CI, I got a message from DirecTV, stating that CI is now having home and road feeds when available. I think it depends on how many games are being played, but the dual feeds is going to be a staple from now on.
ive seen it happen several times already this year, with the caps doing it at least once that i know of, against the pens, during the failed “white out”. it felt more like i was disrupting the black out that all the penguins fans had planned so well
I heard they are going white against division rivals.
I know the Sabres recently got permission form the NHL to wear whites at home for divisional games. Its a step in the right direction
Yeah, the Caps wore white against Pittsburgh – - Probably to make all the Penguins fans feel at home.
If it were up to me, both teams would be allowed to wear colored sweaters if there was enough difference between the two. The Caps could then have a red one and a blue one or keep the existing set.
Caps/Pens
Isles/Pens
Sabres/Pens (Ice Bowl)
some of the games where white has been worn at home
You realize that this picture:

was taken in the Boston Garden right???
LONG LIVE HOCKEY TRADITION!!!!!!
All of us realize that dark sweaters at home are not new. However, I can only imagine that most of us writing and reading this blog only remember white at home.
