Federal Air Marshals are one way to ensure security … Donald Brashear looming over passengers is quite another. And definitely do not call him Shirley.
Chris Clark, Donald Brashear, Brian Pothier, Mike Green, and Nicklas Backstrom “will assist the team’s official airline, Southwest Airlines, by becoming Southwest employees for the afternoon on Tuesday, Oct. 16, at Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport” from 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM.
Per the Capitals’ press release, the hockey players will be trading the ice for the tarmac: loading bags, helping passengers board flights, and even helping guide planes on the runway (!!). Slapshot will also be at BWI, distributing peanuts and playing games with travelers. For once, flight delays may not be as painful as usual.

When I saw this I was hoping Southwest would be debuting a plane in the Capitals colors like US Airways did for several NFL teams.
Confused Passenger: Excuse me…uh, Mr “Bray-sheer?”…could you direct me to seat 14C?
DB: Down there
CP: Uh, where?
DB: –icy glare–
CP: Oh, OK
Guess I’ll know who to blame when my bags end up in Tucson instead of Toronto, huh?
How about someone “assisting” the Caps with the PP problems?
@Thunderweenie: Your bags would make it to Toronto. The players know the NHL cities; Toronto - yes, Boston - yes, Phoenix - yes, but Tucson = where’s that, put in the unknown or to be lost baggage pile.
Drat, of course, I am flying out Wednesday on SW!!!
@ MulletMan–I’d trust the hockey players to find Toronto on a map, sure, but the airline baggage people sure have trouble finding it sometimes!
