A Haven for the Hockey Malnourished

The coldest days best warm my hockey heart

Ray Emery, Prizefighter

Everyone remembers the beatdown Senators goalie Ray Emery gave Sabres netminder Marty Biron . . . but here's some great footage from Emery's days in Binghamton playing for the Sens' AHL squad, as he pummels non-goalie Josh Gratton of the Philadelphia Phantoms:

The lesson: Do not mess with Ray Emery.

BallHype: hype it up!

YEAAAAH, baby! Those are MY Sens! MAN, does he ever ring Gratton's bell toward the end.

Always interesting to look at older minor- or junior-league footage to see who is where today. Note the presence of current Sens Chris Kelly and Anton Volchenkov, and former Sen (and current Cap) Brian Pothier.

Do you know when this was taken? Was it during the lockout when these guys all played in Binghamton, or pre-2004 when these guys were all in the AHL more-or-less full time?

PS--Sorry to note that Kelly scored the winner against Washington last night, guys. ;-)
