NHL Network in the US

We have more to celebrate than just the start of training camp today.  According to The Globe and Mail, hockey fans in the United States may soon be able to receive the NHL Network.NHL Network logo
"NHL Network will launch in the United States in time for the start of the regular season, sources say. The network, which operates out of Toronto, will air basically the same programming in the United States as it does in Canada."
No word on which cable or satellite systems will be picking up the network.  Also mentioned in the article is the possibility of another Super Series, this time between Canada and the United States.

Just saw NHL network listed on my on-screen guide tonight here in Baltimore. Wikipedia indicates that NHLN US will be added to the sports tier on Comcast in Pittsburgh on 10/16, perhaps the same is happening here and elsewhere.

This is odd. I'm out on the west coast, northern California actually, and I get the NHL Network on Comcast, but they don't air any of the live games. It shows the games on the program guide, but the actual channel just keeps showing classic games. Anyone else having this problem? Oh, and it's all games, not just a local black out.

Joel,

I am also having this problem. Program Guide lists Penguins v Hurricanes tonight but instead I have an late 80's Canadiens v Kings game. I love the great one and all, but I'd really rather watch the next great one!

Well, now the program guide isn't even working, it just reads, "to be anounced" all the time. I'm still getting all the other programing, just not the live games.

NHL on the fly is great, much better than watching SportsCenter and waiting for the 20 second NHL spot.

Is there anyone in the U.S. that IS getting the live games?

LOL, Happy Halloween! Figures, I make another ranting post and the NHL Network goes and proves me wrong. I've got the Blue Jakcets vs. Kings LIVE right now. Cool.

I found the NHL network, on my Direct Tv last night, much to the dismay of my wife and my delight.

I am thrilled not to have to search for Versus (6-0...something) or wait for the obligatory 20 second Crosby highlight on ESPN.

If by "dish" you mean DirecTV, yes, you can get the NHL Network without HD. It is channel 215. I don't have HD and am enjoying the Network.

If by "dish" you mean Dish Network. I don't have an answer for that.

It’s not available in Salt Lake City, and I bought the Center Ice package to be able to watch my hometown Penguins. Now I’m stuck listening to the games on the internet. C’mon Comcast SLC, get it added!!!

I am outside Philly, have NHL Network on Comcast. I have center ice package but it does not show games that are on NHL Net. However, NHL Net/Comcast is blacking out all live games so I don't get to see them at all even though I pay for digital cable AND center ice.

Anyone know if Dish Network is offering it SD? The only way I can see it is in HD format ... and so for the Misses is ready to buy another tv.

Kevin, Dish Network does not offer NHL Network in SD, only HD.
Directv seems to be better for adding channels, and HD/SD coverage. Why would dishnetwork only offer NHL Network in HD, basically screwing NHL Center Ice customers on SD?
If you're not locked into Dish Network, I'd recommend switching to Directv. I've never heard of an instance where Directv doesn't offer channels that Dish Network does.

No sure if it will help anyone, but here in Northern California it's on Comcast channel 419, non HD.

Anyone know if Comcast is carrying HDNet or what the status of games shown on the NHL Network vs the NHL Center Ice package.

I have Comcast and don't want to be screwed by missing all the HD Net games again for the 2008/09 season. Thanks.
