The Post’s Pigskin Paparazzi

Major DislikeI’m not making this up: The Washington Post has dispatched quasi-blogger Dan Steinberg to Redskins’ training camp.

After all, who among us wouldn’t agree that that paper’s coverage of the Burgundy and Gold doesn’t cry out for a blogger’s amplifcation? If the matter weren’t so parochial, I swear it’d generate Tank McNamara treatment by Friday. Any wagers as to whether Dan will “blog” from Kettler Capitals in five weeks’ time? If he does, it will be against the will of his editors.

The beat burlesque goes on.

Trust me, Danny boy won’t be at Kettler because he’d have to go up against bloggers who actually know what they’re talking about.

Yeah, I would never go against bloggers who actually know what they’re talking about. That’s why I’m in Ashburn, where the only blogging competition is Jason LaCanfora.

    That was a joke.

Pucks, why you got to hate, man? And I love you guys, too. You’d rather I “blog” about the Mystics?

  3. Something about loving the sinner but hating the sin, Dan. Stay cool out there in Ashburn. FYI, I’ll be out at Kettler today interviewing an NHLer with a story to tell.

  5. In all my 24 years of living in DC, I’ve never yet seen the absolute saturation point of Redskins coverage reached, where their fans say, “enough.” The Post could blog on the “turn your head and cough” portion of the annual physical for players and there would be readers galore.

  6. Peerless, insomuch as there is a waiting list for Baltimore Ravens’ tickets, I’d argue that that saturation point was arrived at some years ago. Baltimore’s fan base, it’s no secret, is comprised of no small number of Skins’ ex-pats. So much for an “insatiable” appetite. Interesting, too, that The Sun is rarely accused of donning kneepads for the Ravens.

Are you saying that excessive media coverage, whatever that is, drove “no small number” of Skins fans a few miles up 95 to Charm City (a misnomer if there ever was one)?

Tell me I’m misunderstanding you, P&B.

  8. Yeah, you are, Maruk. But that widespread dissatisfaction certainly predates DSnyder and the recent decade of disgusting competitive results, and as WaPost has turned a blind eye to it all, ever, joined by other usual MSM suspects, it’s created a general climate of love-’em or hate ‘em in these parts, which really wasn’t the case to the current degree 20 years ago. And I’d suggest to you the numbers of hate-em are growing. (Such is the case with the Angelos-owned O’s). I speak as one who once toted a Skins’ lunchpail to school, and slept in Skins-logo-ed PJs. Today I wish them 16 losses a season. That would have been unimaginable when I was in sec. 115 of RFK 20 years back.
