The NHL released the regular season schedule for all 30 teams today. The NHL will open its 90th season in London, England with a pair of games between the Stanley Cup Champion Anaheim Ducks and the Los Angeles Kings on September 29th and 30th.
The Capitals begin the season on the road at Atlanta on October 5th with the first home game the next day against the Hurricanes.
Due to the unbalanced schedule, Hockey Day in Canada will not have all six Canadian teams facing each other. Instead, February 9th will have Detroit at Toronto, Montreal at Ottawa, Edmonton at Calgary in the Battle of Alberta, and Colorado at Vancouver.
The NHL All-Star Game will be held in Atlanta’s Phillips Arena on January 27th.

Almost just two months until the first preseason game…life is good.
Isn’t Montreal in Quebec??? It always was during the trips we took up there in college. Three matchups against the B’s in March too, it will be my own little march maddness.
Montral vs Ottawa is the Battle of Ontario? I may be wrong, and feel free to lambaste me if I am, but I thought only Toronto vs Ottawa constitutes a B of O.
Jan 17. GM Battle Royale
(I know, it probably won’t be THAT exciting, but had to be mentioned)
I thoroughly enjoy that the Bruins will be here for St. Patty’s Day weekend.
“The battle of Ontario”…. I blame the NHL, as I “borrowed” some text as I formatted the Caps’ schedule before leaving for the development camp. I should know by now not to “blog then flee”.
Heh… of all the people who would screw that up.
Come to think of it, it’s also not called “The Battle of Alberta”. Correctly, that would be an “Alberta Rumble.”
Oh, and by “Of all the people,” I meant the NHL, not you. I am well familiar with the inherent risks of cut and paste.
