I tend to notice subtle things when watching TV and movies. Maybe a boom microphone that has dropped into the frame. Maybe the commercial that is on the TV partially in view behind the actors.
While watching Prison Break on FOX this past week, Michael Scofield [Wentworth Miller] steals the cell phone of FBI Agent Alexander Mahone’s [William Fichtner] ex-wife to get his number. While scrolling through the contacts in the phone, I think I see something. I asked Mrs. Gustafsson, “Did you see Ovechkin’s name on the phone?” Through the power of the greatest invention after Hockey and Beer, I back up the TiVo and pause on the frame containing the cell phone contact list. Here are the names listed (obviously the first names were changed to protect the innocent):
- Adia Weight
- Adrianna Kopitar
- Agatha Ovechkin
- Aidan Kotalik
- Alex Mahone [The FBI Character]
- Ally Vazquez
- Amy Crosby
- Andrea Staios
Someone in the cast, crew, production or writing group loves the NHL.

That is hi-larious. Nice catch, Gus.
Hmmm…..That’s interesting since it’s coming from the network that invented the “glowing puck” (for tv purposes only…of course).
Unfortunately, “Crosby” is also a listed surname.
tremendous find, guys. i’m not sure about the name agatha, though.
OMFG. I just jumped over here from Sherry’s Scarlett Ice, and this shiz is TOO DAMN FUNNY! I just watched the episode last night, and I totally missed this! I’m so re-watching it tonight! This is great stuff. I must link, I must link…
Got to echo Pepper’s comment.
Great to see there are hockey lovers in the screenwriters guild
Nice catch!
I sure hope this isn’t Fox’s way of saying, “We want the NHL back!”
[...] Full marks to blogger “Gustafsson”, who studied a recent Prison Break episode and found a fascinating link to the hockey world. [...]
