It couldn’t be solved in neither regulation nor overtime, but the Atlanta Thrashers prevented the Buffalo Sabres from breaking an NHL record by starting the season 11-0 by winning beating in a shootout 5-4. Não poderia ser resolvido em nenhum regulamento, nem horas extraordinárias, mas o Atlanta Thrashers impediu o Buffalo Sabres de quebrar um recorde NHL, iniciando a temporada 11-0 pela vencedora batendo em um tiroteio 5-4.
